What do I need to access a course?

All you need is a reliable internet connection and access to a personal computer, tablet or phone – our online courses are responsive and designed to work across all platforms.

Our courses are presented in English, so you will need to have a good grasp of the language to be able to follow the filmed clips and read the associated material.

We also recommend that you study the courses somewhere quiet so that you can concentrate and get the most out of the rich, helpful information they contain.

Do I need any previous experience?

No. Although our courses are primarily for the caring professions, all of our training is presented as clearly as possible without jargon so that anyone who is interested in the subject matter, whether for professional or personal reasons, can benefit from the material covered.

Human Givens College is dedicated to spreading high quality information about mental health and wellbeing to as many people as possible, worldwide.  If you are thinking of attending one of our face-to-face courses, our online courses are a good place to start.

I'm not in the UK, does that matter?

No, absolutely not – in fact that's one of the main reasons we developed our online courses, so that more people from around the world could benefit from our training.

When you purchase a course from outside the UK, the course fee will be automatically converted into your local currency, using that day's exchange rates, when it is debited from your debit/credit card or PayPal account.

You can check your exchange rate today by visiting: www.xe.com currency converter.

How do I purchase a course?

Simply click on the appropriate pink button (eg. 'Take this course') and you will be directed to the secure payment page.

You can pay with your debit/credit card or PayPal account via the secure payment gateway.

We occasionally run special offers, if you have a discount code – simply click the 'Do you have a discount code?' link on the payment page, enter the code you've been given and press the 'Apply' button. Your discount will then be deducted from the total.

Where do I enter my discount code?

If you've got a special offer code, click the 'Take this course' button to start your purchase. This takes you to the first page of the secure checkout system – you will see a line that says: 'Do you have a discount code?' – click that, enter your code in the box that appears and then click 'Apply'. The discount will be deducted from the total and you can then proceed to pay with your credit or debit card via the PayPal gateway.

Can I buy more than one course at once?

Yes, you can either purchase each course individually, as explained above, or contact us so that we can take your booking over the phone and give you access to the courses you want to book on to.

From time to time we also offer 'bundles' of courses at a reduced rate, please visit our Offers page for details.

We offer a 10% discount for people who book 5 or more of our courses at once, and also offer group discounts for organisations wishing to book on groups of staff to a course. Please contact us for more information.

Do you do gift vouchers?

Yes. If you'd like to buy a course for someone else, or would like to purchase a gift voucher than can be used against any of our training, please contact us and we'd be happy to arrange this for you.

What's the course format?

Each course is split into modules consisting of different sections with filmed lecture clips and sometimes additional material to read. The film clips in our Diploma-linked courses are followed by multiple choice questions for you to answer. These help you thoroughly absorb the course material and check that you have understood it. There are also additional notes that complement the course as an aide memoire.

You need to answer all of the multiple choice questions correctly in order to complete the Diploma-linked courses and need 100% completion to gain your certificate – but don't worry, you can retake sections and watch the film clips as often as you wish, should you need to.

How long will a course take me?

The beauty of our online courses is that you can do as little or as much as you like in one sitting.

The diploma-linked online courses are based on our one-day taught courses, and include additional material to read and multiple choice questions to answer after each clip. So in theory, you could complete the course in one whole day (6 hours), but many people prefer to do one module at a time over a longer period.

Can I stop a course and continue later?

Yes. The advantage of our online training is that you can fit it in around your other commitments whenever it suits you, day or night.

It is easy to log out of the course and then log in again with your email and password at a later date and simply continue from where you left off. All our courses and webinars come with life-long access so you can take your time and complete them at your own pace.

Can I revisit parts of the course at a later date?

Yes, all our courses and webinars come with life-long access so you can revisit the whole course, or just a section of it, as often as you need to. In fact, we recommend that you do this to help you fully absorb the material the course contains.

If you would like to review a particular section of the course again having finished the whole course, or even having moved through the course to a later section, you can easily navigate to an earlier section using the menu on the left of the screen.

How long will I be able to access the course for?

All our courses and webinars come with life-long access. You can view the course as often as you like, so you have all the time you need to both think about and absorb the ideas and information each course contains.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. Once you have successfully completed the whole course you will receive your Course Certificate from Human Givens College for 6 hours of continuing professional development.

Do your courses count towards a qualification?

Yes. Our core diploma-linked online courses count towards Part 1 of the Human Givens Diploma – a well-regarded and highly practical psychotherapy course that also has wider applications for promoting emotional health in other areas. Read more.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are working towards the Human Givens Diploma, do fill in your address details under 'My account' so that we can create a full student record for you and log all of the courses you are taking. Alternatively, you can contact us, to let us know.

I can't find the link to download my certificate

If you've got to the end of your course but your completion is less than 100% the download button for your certificate won't appear. You will then need to check the course sections menu to find the ones that aren't yet marked as complete (those you have finished will have a green dot next to them), this might be because first time round you didn't complete all the questions correctly, in which case you will need to retake that section, or perhaps because you were interrupted and didn't finish watching a film, or didn't click the appropriate 'Next' button which would have marked that section complete.

Simply, finish off the course and you will be taken to a page with a download link to your certificate. You can also access this link via the 'Your Progress' page, as long as you have completed 100% of the course.

I've lost my certificate, can I download another one?

Yes. Once you've completed 100% of your course you can access your certificate via 'My account' in the drop down menu that appears once you've signed in. Click on 'Certificates' once you're in 'My account' and you will see listed all of the courses you've completed with links to view the appropriate certificate/s.

Alternatively, you can also download another certificate via the 'Your Progress' page within the course itself.

I'm stuck on a question, how do I watch a film clip again?

If you've got a question wrong and would like to review the appropriate film clip again before taking the questions again, you will need to exit the questions section by clicking on 'Course sections' in the menu – this will then allow you to scroll down and click on the appropriate film clip.

NB. If you're using a tablet (eg. ipad) or mobile phone to access the course, click on the two arrows in the top left-hand corner to get back the course menu.

Can I enrol on more than one course?

Yes. You can either do so on a course by course basis via this website or, if it makes it easier for you, you can contact our friendly team at the office via email or by phone on +44 (0)1323 811690 (9.00am–5.30pm GMT Mon–Fri). They can also help if you'd like to create a group booking for several people from one organisation.

We also sometimes run special bundled course offers, where you can buy 2 or more courses together at a reduced price – for details view our special offers page.

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes. We offer competitve, sliding scale group discounts for any company or organisation wishing to enrol 5 or more members of staff on a course – please contact us to find out more.
